Aprilia Scooters

Although not as famous as their cousins, the Vespa scooters, Aprilia scooters have also made a name for themselves. They’re fast, reliable, and have a great quality, just like Vespas. And of course, it couldn’t really be in any other way. Aprilia scooters belong to the group that produces the Vespa: The Piaggio group.

Some people are surprised to hear that Aprilia scooters exist; they might not even believe it. That’s because the Aprilia name is much more connected with a different type of vehicle, which a lot of people find very thrilling: a motorcycle. And not just any motorcycle, a racing motorcycle.

Nevertheless, Aprilia also produces some scooters. As you would imagine, Aprilia scooters differ from Vespa scooters in order to differentiate themselves in the mind of customers. Otherwise, they would just be stealing each other’s market share.

As you would expect, the main difference between Aprilia scooters and Vespa scooters is speed and power. Aprilia scooters aren’t made for the weak of heart. One could say that they are a toned down version of racing scooters.

Take their most famous model, for example, the Aprilia SR50. This scooter is not just your average “get to the supermarket and back” machine. Its motor and power is so great that some countries have reclassified it as a motorcycle. That means that you need to hold a motorcycle license to legally ride it, along with all the requirements it involves. For example, in some countries, you need to be 21 or older in order to legally ride a motorcycle.

Despite what you might think, Aprilia scooters aren’t much more expensive than Vespa scooters. That’s because they aren’t as famous and thus their demand isn’t as high as that of their cousins. Nevertheless, they all belong to the Piaggio family, so they benefit from all the benefits that the Piaggio name carries, like their extensive dealer network, high quality and resistance, fuel efficiency, stylish design, excellent customer service, and, of course, a tradition of scooter making that has passed the test of time.

So, if you like Vespas, but would like a bit more of power and speed, consider Aprilia scooters instead of the Japanese or Chinese models who might disappear overnight. You’ll be getting a powerful piece of machinery that will last for years and years with minimum maintenance. In addition, in the rare case that you need a repair, it’ll be easy to get both the spare parts needed and the mechanical expertise that is required.
