Gurkha Cigars

Gurkha cigars have a long history of craftsmanship, style and tradition. Dating back to the time when the sun didn’t set on the British Empire. At the time, India was ruled by Britain, and colonial soldiers were a common sight in the streets of Bombay and New Delhi. It was a different time, with different values.

However, in those times colonial soldiers came to know the local tobacco. And they started to make their own cigars from the high quality leafs that they found in the colony. These cigars were dubbed Gurkha cigars, after the legendary Nepalese fighters that British soldiers encountered.

A few years later, the rule of the Raja waned, but there were still British expatriates living in Indian territory, and who continued the tradition of smoking Gurkha cigars. These Gurkha cigars were produced in the territory of Goa, which was then still under Portuguese rule, as Operation Vijay hadn’t started yet.

Today, Gurkha cigars are the epitome of premium cigars everywhere in the world. The finest quality, the best tobacco and the background of history and tradition makes Gurkha cigars the most sought after brand by those who can afford it.

As any luxury item, Gurkha cigars are not meant to be accessible to everyone, just like not anyone can ride a BMW or carry a Louis Vuitton purse. In fact, the most expensive Gurkha cigars cost as much as what some people earn in a month. I’m talking about how much ONE cigar costs, not a box.

There is a saying that goes “if you have to ask how much it costs, then you can’t afford it.” This can be true for Gurkha cigars. With a single cigar from their best collection costing as much as a bit more than a thousand dollars, and a case that goes in value of up to one hundred thousand dollars, you’ll be hard pressed to find someone who has that kind of money AND is willing to spend it on something that is literally going to burn. This really gives a new meaning to the phrase “burning money.” If you tried to smoke a 100 dollar bill, it’ll be cheaper (although of course, not nearly as enjoyable).

It’s no wonder that only the rich (and not necessarily the famous) are the main fans of the brand. They are attracted not only by the brand’s name, but also the color, flavor, taste, texture and design that is representative of Gurkha cigars. And of course, the status image that inevitably comes from being seeing smoking a Gurkha cigar.
